Description
Cadmium Sulfide CdS 99.999% 5N or Cadmium Sulphide 99.999% 5N purity, molecular weight 144.476, melting point 980°C, boiling point 1750°C, density 4.826g/cm3, CAS 1306-23-6, a yellow-brown water-insoluble solid material, is a binary compounds of high purity Cadmium and Sulfur elements crystallizing in the cubic sphalerite or hexagonal wurtzite structure grown by Vertical Gradient Freeze VGF method. It is an outstanding photoconductor material by improved crystal growing techniques has resulted in large single crystals with more perfect crystal structure and higher purity sought by zone refining of cadmium and sulfur. The crystals are grown from the melt in high-temperature and high-pressure equipment, and to be shaped by ultrasonic cutting methods successfully applied. P-type CdS crystal has been produced by heavy copper doping.
Applications
Cadmium Sulfide CdS 99.999% 5N is used especially in the production of in photoelectric cells, photoresistor, luorescent powder, and other photovoltaic elements and devices such as photocells, gamma detectors, solar generators, photorectifiers, and in electronic parts, in medicine, in paints etc. Cadmium sulfide is a kind of semiconductor material with photocatalytic activity, which can form composite material with different types of material to promote photocatalytic capacity while reducing the light corrosion effect, it is widely used for the fabrication of UV detectors, piezoelectric crystals, photoresistors, laser devices and other infrared devices.
