Cadmium Sulphide CdS, 99.999% 5N purity, molecular weight 144.476, melting point 980°C, boiling point 1750°C, density 4.826g/cm3, CAS 1306-23-6, a yellow-brown water-insoluble solid material, is used especially in the production of in photoelectric cells, photoresistor, luorescent powder, and other photovoltaic elements and devices such as photocells, gamma detectors, solar generators, photorectifiers, and in electronic parts, in medicine , in paints etc.
Cadmium Sulfide CdS is binary compounds of high purity Cadmium and Sulfur elements crystallizing in the cubic sphalerite or hexagonal wurtzite structure grown by Vertical Gradient Freeze (VGF) method. It is an outstanding photoconductor material by improved crystal growing techniques has resulted in large single crystals with more perfect crystal structure and higher purity sought by zone refining of cadmium and sulfur. The crystals are grown from the melt in high-temperature and high-pressure equipments, and to be shaped by Ultrasonic cutting methods successfully applied. P-type CdS crystal has been produced by heavy copper doping.
