Description
Hafnium Carbide HfC, a grey-black metallic luster solid powder, CAS No.12069-85-1, with molecular weight 190.5, melting point 3890°C and density 12.7g/cm3, which is insoluble in water, but soluble in hydrofluoric acid, hot concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid or hot alkaline solution, and is stable at room temperature. Hafnium Carbide HfC exhibits chemical stability and excellent high temperature property, high melting point, high elastic coefficient, good electric conductivity, small thermal expansion and good impact property, high hardness and toughness, and oxidation resistance. Hafnium Carbide HfC and Zirconium Carbide ZrC at Western Minmetals (SC) Corporation can be delivered in size of powder 0.5-500 micron or 5-400 mesh or as customized specification, package of 25kg, 50kg in plastic bag with iron drum outside.
Applications
Hafnium Carbide HfC can be used as additive of cemented carbide production to effectively inhibit the grain growth and widely used in the field of cutting tools. Being an important structural material of high melting point, high strength and anti-corrosive, Hafnium Carbide HfC is mainly used in nozzle parts for aerospace, hard alloy, nuclear reactor control rod in atomic energy filed, high temperature resistant lining, arc or electrode for electrolysis, electronic industry, flinty thin film, metallurgy, ceramic and other industry etc.

Zirconium Carbide ZrC, gray metallic powder with cubic lattice system structure of NaCl Type, molecular 103.22, melting point 3540°C, boiling point 5100°C, density 6.73g/cm3, react with water but soluble in acid, is of excellent high temperature property.
With good anti-oxidation, thermal conductivity and toughness, it is extensively used as key high strength, anti-corrosive, high temperature structural and welding thermal spray coating material.
