Tantalum Carbide TaC, brown color powder, cubic crystal system structure of to sodium chloride type, molecular weight 192.96, density 14.3g/cm³, melting point 3880°C, melting point 5500°C, is insoluble in water, insoluble in inorganic acids, and can dissolve in the mixture of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid and decompose. Tantalum Carbide TaC plays an important role in inhibiting grain growth and improving red hardness and wear resistance of the alloy. Enhancing the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of the alloy and improving the structure of the alloy. With high chemical stability and high temperature character, TaC is an important additive to fine crystalline grain of WC for cutting tool with great hardness similar to the diamond. It can also offer great resistance to the temperature up to 3880°C, and finds wide applications in the fields such as hard Alloys , targets, welding materials, cermets, electronics, metallurgy, machinery, and aviation industry.
